Diet is better if your goal is weight loss. But I get a kick out of these sickly looking women on the Jenny Craig commercials who have just lost weight. Weight loss does not equal healthy, even though that is what our society has become obsessed with. Of course, we have also decided that multiple hours a day sitting still on a freeway is an acceptable lifestyle - proof that animals have WAY more wisdom than humans. But I digress. If the question is about weight loss, you can control this with diet by manipulating your system, tricking your body, forcing it to lose weight, and set yourself up perfectly to gain it all back. Even wonder why dieters are the heaviest people? But if the question is about health, you MUST have BOTH diet and exercise. the right answer is "AND".
both are needed, but it's tough to stay on a "diet". exercising is so much more long-term and fun. When you exercise, you can still eat a warm chocolate chip cookie once in a while and still feel good about yourself.

I agree...BOTH diet
AND exercise are needed to be fit and healthy.
